Nominee Personal Statements

Nominee for Vice President:

Martine Altieri

Being a leader in my profession has been my passion. I actively utilize my voice through volunteering with the JAAPA podcast, AAPA committees, and other COs to advance our profession by demonstrating our ability to excel in various environments.

I am a member of the inaugural board of PAs in Obesity Medicine, holding the position of Director at Large for the past four years. Additionally, I have served as an HOD delegate for FAPA for the past 2 years which highlights my extensive experience in advocacy. My clinical practice is now focused on obesity medicine, and I have extensive experience advocating for the recognition of obesity as a disease and expanding the role of PAs in this specialty. My objective is to enhance our presence in obesity medicine, provide support and mentorships to those entering the field, and foster the growth of this constituent organization through collaboration with the industry and other PA organizations. I aim to improve education for PAs in obesity medicine and ensure Physician Associates are a strong voice and integral part of the solution to end the obesity epidemic in America.

Nominee for Treasurer:

Karon Potter

As a founding board member of PAOM, I am deeply invested in the organization’s ongoing
growth and success. My tenure as founding treasurer has allowed me to establish and refine the financial operations of our organization, and I would be honored to continue developing a  financial structure that is robust and future-ready. This role has been an extensive learning opportunity, and my goal is to ensure that, when the time comes to transition this responsibility, I leave behind a strong and sustainable financial system that will serve PAOM for years to come.
My commitment extends beyond financial stewardship; I have also championed obesity
treatment by serving as a speaker and advocate for obesity education both within and beyond AAPA. I am passionate about supporting PAs in Obesity Medicine and advancing our mission through education, advocacy, and organizational excellence.

Nominees for Member at Large:

I would be a good candidate for the Member-At-Large position because I bring experience and passion, having already served in this role over the past year with active engagement. I have contributed to board initiatives and have sought out other opportunities for our organization to be involved with. I believe my background with continuing education, advocacy and clinic care will continue to be a meaningful contribution. I am excited to continue with the work we have been doing and to help grow the organization.

Kathryn Earls

I am eager to serve as a Member at Large for the PAOM group as part of my commitment to advancing our field and supporting fellow PAs who are passionate about obesity care. With over a decade of clinical experience, I’m ready to step outside my comfort zone, expand my leadership skills and contribute meaningfully to our community.
